The Right Bed Wetting Alarms
Moisture detecting alarms have been identified the best mode of treatment
for helping your children out of bedwetting, since they make the symptoms
more bearable unlike other modes. They are usually worn along underpants.
The sensor in the alarm can emit a sound soon after the first indication
of moisture. The child can wake up by the sound and rush to the bathroom
on time.
As these alarms are used continually, the child learns to wake himself
for bathroom. The alarm was developed with the idea that the child will
expect the alarm to go off when used long-term and wake up before it goes
off himself. It has also proved that the children are able to prevent
bedwetting accidents in 2-3 months period.
There are many manufacturers for bedwetting alarm production owing to
its effectiveness. But how are you going to find the best one for you?
If you select the wrong one, it may still make your child ill at ease
or it may not work properly. Such situations may lead to increased bedwetting
episodes. The indications for a good alarm are
· Reasonable price – it must be affordable.
· Comfort – since your child needs to wear it every night, he/she must
be comfortable. It must not disturb his sleep or have detrimental sharp
edges.
· Sensitivity levels - the alarm must emit the sound soon after detecting
moisture, for the child to wake in time to go to bathroom. Simultaneously,
the alarm must not go off for night sweats. This may interrupt your child’s
sleep and will be less effective for treatment.
· Ease of use – it must be easy for your child to use it himself without
your help. He must be able to reset it himself. Some alarms allow the
parents to reset it from another room. This is especially for young children.
· Durability – there are chances for the child to drop the alarm or knock
it off against the bed or walls at night.
· Reliability – it must be reliable every time.
· Hygienic design – the alarm must be cleaned every day since it is in
contact with urine. Hence it must be waterproof for good health without
affecting its functioning.
· Loudness – it must wake your child or at least you, if the child tends
to sleep through alarms. Many alarms have adjustable sound levels. Some
do come with vibrations if sound is not effective. Vibrating alarms are
better if your child sleeps with many others in the family or shares with
his friends, since it will wake the child alone.
· Secureness – wireless technologies have come up in order to avoid pulled
or tangling wires. There are fewer chances for the alarm being dislodged
in this case.
· Size – it must be small thus not affecting the comfort of your child.
· Simple power sources – most alarms work on batteries. These batteries
must be easily available everywhere for convenience. Alternatively, you
need to stock batteries.
· Guarantee - guarantees or warranties are normally offered. A consistent
alarm is necessary to overcome the problem. Hence get an alarm which has
a guarantee.
· Quality made - it must be strong and designed as per customer’s comfort
and life.
